DeAngelo Nea Styra

ENJOYABLE WALKS AROUND NEA STYRA

• CHURCHES AND CHAPELS
A circular tour on foot around Nea Styra of about 2 hours. Admire the icons.

• PALEA STYRA
A walk of about 11 km in natural surroundings.

• DEILISO
A walk of 8 km. Views that fascinate mere mortals. Fantastic long beaches, and each day offers one out of the thousand different sunsets after which this place was named.

• LIMNIONAS
A walk by the side of the Aegean Sea. Sublime sand and four tavernas (inns) complement the wild and beautiful environment. A little further takes the traveller to the two villages of Tsakeoi, built out of copperstone, and Mesochoria with its waterfall.

• DRYOPIKI – ACROPOLIS OF STYRA
At a height of 670m stand the Frankish Castle and City of Armeni built out of large stones; also the Church of the Virgin Mary. In the bright green distance the ancient crossing and the transport “passage” (diolkos) of columns (stone railways) are visible.
The Acropolis and the Gate of Armeni date from the 8th century BC, and the astonishing view creates lasting impressions.
A few metres to the left of the Gate visit the ruins of the Castle of Armeni, built by the Franks in 1402 AD. Further down, after a careful descent, the chapel of St Nikolaos is located within a cave. This wealth of wild beauty and archaeological findings unfailingly rewards each visitor.
